What Touchstone means
Touchstone is a black siliceous stone which was once used to test the purity of silver and gold. The word connoted a test or criterion for determining genuineness. In alchemy, touchstone came to symbolize the quest to turn baser metal into gold, a metaphor for transforming less worthy aspects of the psyche into the “pure gold” of the spirit.
The choice of the name, Touchstone, relates to our ministry of helping individuals to experience and respond to that which lies deepest within. Our name refers to the process of becoming more authentic, alive and attuned to who we are meant to be. Touchstone, Inc. is dedicated to facilitating the transformative journey of those who aspire to live with meaning and purpose in the service of the Self, God within.
